Lincoln City have signed there first player of the transfer window

Lincoln City have completed the signing of experienced left-back Callum Elder on a two-year contract, making him the club's first addition of the summer transfer window. The Australian defender arrives at the LNER Stadium after three seasons with Derby County and brings a wealth of experience that should prove invaluable as the Imps prepare for the challenges ahead.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Elder began his football journey at Manly United academy before moving to England as a teenager to join Leicester City's academy in 2011. Although he never made a first-team appearance for the Foxes, his years at Leicester helped shape him into a reliable and consistent defender, learning alongside Premier League-quality players and coaches.

During his time with Leicester, Elder gained valuable experience through several loan spells. He represented Mansfield Town, Peterborough United, Brentford, Barnsley, Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town. Each move helped him develop different aspects of his game, whether it was adapting to League Two, League One or the Championship. Those experiences gave him the versatility and resilience needed to succeed in English football.

In 2019, Elder made a permanent move to Hull City, where he established himself as one of the club's most dependable players. He played a key role as Hull won the League One title in the 2020-21 season, earning promotion back to the Championship. His performances were praised for his defensive reliability, intelligent positioning and willingness to support attacks down the left flank.

Following his successful spell with Hull, Elder joined Derby County in 2023. He was part of the squad that secured promotion from League One before continuing to feature regularly in the Championship. Across his three seasons at Pride Park, he demonstrated consistency, professionalism and leadership, making well over 80 appearances for the Rams. Lincoln City have signed a player who knows what it takes to compete for promotion and perform at a high level in demanding divisions.

Internationally, Elder has also represented Australia at senior level on 3 occasions. Having played both domestic and international football, he arrives with a calmness and maturity that should benefit the younger members of the squad.

Elder is known as an energetic left-back who enjoys getting forward while remaining disciplined defensively. He delivers quality crosses, works tirelessly up and down the touchline and reads the game well. His Championship experience, combined with his winning mentality from previous promotion campaigns, makes him an excellent addition to Tom Shaw and Chris Cohen's squad.

For Lincoln City supporters, the signing of Callum Elder represents more than just another new face. He will give competition to Adam Reach and also Ryley Towler for the left side of defence position, it is a statement that the club is adding proven quality and experience to strengthen the squad. Imps fans will be hoping his leadership, consistency and determination can help the club enjoy another successful campaign as he begins the next chapter of his career in red and white.
